National Testing - NAPLAN Years 3 & 5 - Literacy & Numeracy Tests
NAPLAN tests are traditionally held in May each year, for students in Years 3 & 5. Data from these tests is used by the school to track student performance and to identify students requiring support or extension.
In 2019, St William's School moved to NAPLAN Online which means that our Years 3 and 5 children moved from the paper-based tests to computer-based assessments.
NAPLAN Online provides better assessment, more precise results and faster turnaround of information. The assessments run through a real-time internet connection or onscreen without an internet connection.
NAPLAN Online is a tailored test which adapts to student responses, presenting students with questions that may be more or less difficult – resulting in better assessment and more precise results.
Significant planning, development, research and trialling was carried out before the implementation of NAPLAN Online for St William's School. Our Year 3 children have been blessed with new iPads in their classrooms to help with this transition.
MCEEDYA provides parents with the opportunity to withdraw their sons and daughters from the NAPLAN tests. The School does not encourage this option but is obliged to inform parents of their rights.
If you would like more information about this please contact the school or visit the NAP site.
